Winter Concert Tonight!
The Winter Concert is tonight for Cast B, which includes our class. The school doors open at 6:15pm for the concert. There is usually a very big line up outside to get good seats so arriving early may help with finding the perfect place to get pictures. Students should be here right at 6:15pm as we will be heading into the gym by 6:20ish. Students are asked to go straight to their classrooms where they will change their shoes and hang up their jackets, and families can go to the gym to secure a seat. Our class will be on the left side of the gym on the risers if you are facing the stage. The front row of seats has been raffled off by parent council. After the show, please return to our classroom to pick up your child. The Seuss Gallery will be set up in the Copper Gallery and is a good place for families to take photographs after the show.
I am missing a few permission forms for the Inline skating that will be beginning the day we get back from break. Although we will not skate every day, we may begin on the Tuesday. I need to have all permission forms returned before the winter break so please check my blog from last week and print off a form and return it. Students are asked to bring their own bicycle helmet for hygienic reasons. We also have the dentist coming in January and need to have the dental forms returned with the yellow sheet signed so that your child can participate. These are due tomorrow. They came home with your child last week in an envelope.

Copperfield School is once again participating in the Holiday campaign called "Warm Feet for the Street" in support of the Mustard Seed. The Mustard Seed offers services that help people make positive and lasting change in their lives. During the holidays, they collect socks stuffed with hygiene and other useful items to distribute.
We will be collecting items in our classrooms until December 17th and then on the 17th each class will get a chance to stuff socks with all the items collected. Please start talking with your child about ways your family can contribute and support Copperfield School as we support the Calgary Mustard Seed.
Please remember that you do not need to bring everything to stuff a sock, any little donations will make a difference. We have our classroom collection box and look forward to getting it filled! Thanks for all the support in showing our “Copperfield Heart” to people in need in our city!!
Here is link to the flyer of what items are wanted by the Mustard Seed

Alien Inline Skating, reminders
In January we are fortunate to have Alien In-Line skating coming. Here are the forms that need to be filled out and returned ASAP so that your child will be able to participate.
Reminder that tobogganing, tubing, crazy carpets, bobsledding and sledding are prohibited on CBE Property. We have a team of warm and caring teachers that provide supervision in the mornings beginning at 8:05 am. Parents do not need to remain with their children until the bell rings. Supervisors will remain with students.
For the Winter Concert your child will be invited to bring in a wind (blowing) instrument by this Wednesday if they want to use it for the concert. If they don't want to, they will be given a non-wind instrument to use. Ask your child if they want to use a wind instrument next Wednesday and Thursday for our performance.

Dental Assessment- Fluoridation Cessation Study
Our grade 2 students have been invited to participate in a study by the Canadian Institute of Health Research. The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of removing fluoride from drinking water on the oral health of schoolchildren. Assessments of Calgary schoolchildren will be compared to those of Edmonton schoolchildren where fluoridation continues.
Researchers will be visiting our school in the first week of January. Your child will be bringing home a package today that includes all associated information and a parental consent form. All details and contact information you may need is listed in the package. Packages will need to be returned by next Thursday, December 13th (or any time before).
